My guitar influences growing up were:
Chet Atkins, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Duane Allman, George Harrison, Joe Walsh.

The guitars I use are:
"go to" guitar is the 1953 Fender Telecaster, Others include: 52 Tele, 53 Tele, 67 Fender ThinLine Tele, 67 Fender Custom Tele, 59 Fender Strat, 57 Fender Strat, 60 Gibson ES 335, 59 Gibson Les Paul, Martin 000018, Martin 000028s

The strings and tuning I use are: Strings:
D'Addario EXL 110 10-46,. EXL 110+ 10.5-48, EXL 115 11-49, NYXL 1046 10-46, NYXL 1140 11-49, EJ 16 12-53, EJ 17 13-56il.

Current rig setup consists of:
Road amps are Little Walter, 3 VG-50s, and one little Walter 22, two 1x12 little Walter speaker cabinets loaded with Celestion G12T-75 speakers, I also use 2 Radial Tonebone Headbone-VT to split the amps. Pedel board contains, EBS UniChorus, Boss TR-2 Tremolo, Strymon Flint Tremolo-Reverb, electro-harmonic Deluxe Memory Man Tap Tempo , Hermida Audio Zendrive, Creation Audio Labs MK.4.23 Clean Boost, Boss CS-3 Compression Sustainer, 2 Boss TU-2 tuners (one for electric and one for acoustic), and a Wampler Faux Spring Reverb. A Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2 powers all of the pedals.

The greatest invention for guitars is
Creation of electronics.

My normal songwriting process consists of:
trying to say the most with the least.

Favorite all-time guitar solo (from another guitarist):
Albert Lee “Luxury Liner.” So many more.

Favorite all-time song (any artist) is:

Favorite song to perform in front of a live audience:
"Liza Jane.”

My Career highlight thus far is:
Induction into Country Music Hall of Fame.

My most embarrassing moment on stage:
Being over-served while playing a Pure Prairie League gig in Houston, TX.

Other than my guitar and amps, the one piece of my gear that I cannot live without is:
My Tuner.

The first song I ever mastered on guitar:
"Wildwood Flower.”

My first guitar was:
Gibson ES 335.

The first time I ever heard our band on the radio was
1974 in Oklahoma City – a single by our group Mountain Smoke.

If I am only sure of one thing in life, It's:
I’m loved by my wife Amy Grant.

The exact moment I knew I would pursue a career in music was:
When I first heard myself on the radio – it gave me hope.

The best advice I could give beginning guitarists:
Know the melody of the song you are playing.

Albums I'm listening to right now:
Everything by Merle Haggard.

Best gig:
Hopefully the next one.

Favorite junk food:

My biggest pet peeve:
People not being friendly.

The hardest part of my job:
Missing home

What I like to do in my "off" time:
golf and being creative.

The first thing I do when I come home from touring is:
go to Noshville for breakfast.

Previous or first day job:
Pizza maker.

Right after this interview I'm going to:
Get on a plane and go to New York City to do more press.

I couldn't imagine being on the road without:
