Tommy DeCarlo, lead singer, will appear with BOSTON on May 4, 2016 in Charlotte, NC at the Uptown Amphitheatre . (Click on "Uptown Amhitheater" for info".

My name is:
Tommy DeCarlo, Jr.

My current job is: Lead Guitarist for

My hometown:
Charlotte, NC.

My current album or project is:
I am currently working on DECARLO’s first studio album.

Former bands:
DECARLO is the only band I’ve ever been in!

My guitar influences growing up were:
Tom Scholz of course! I was also inspired by other great guitarist like Neal Schon, Steve Lukather and Eddie Van Halen.

The guitars I use are:
Paul Reed Smith.

The strings and tunings I use are:
I use D’Addario super light gauge strings and am always in standard tuning.

My current rig setup consists of: Vintage

The greatest invention for guitars is:
Guitar wireless systems. It gives me the freedom to run around stage and give a great performance.

My normal songwriting process consists of:
It consist of a good message, a strong chord structure and powerful lyrics.

My favorite guitar solo from our band:
Any guitar solo is a good guitar solo!

My favorite all-time guitar solo (from another guitarist):
Hotel California - Don Henley and Joe Walsh.

Favorite song by our band:
In my band we perform a lot of covers by great bands from the 70s and 80' my opinion they're all great and it's hard to pick just one.

Favorite song to perform in front of a live audience:

My Career highlight thus far is:
Performing on stage with my Dad who has also been the lead singer for the band BOSTON since 2008.

My most embarrassing moment on stage:
Accidentally hitting my guitar killswitch during my solo. Yikes!

Other than my guitar and amps, the one piece of my gear that I cannot live without is:
Wireless In Ear Monitors. It allows me to hear my mix wherever I am onstage.

The first song I ever mastered on guitar:
"Smoke On The Water" - Deep Purple.

My first guitar was:
A cheap knock off Fender.

The first time I ever heard our band on the radio was (when and where):
Last year on iHeart Radio in their Charlotte studios with nationally syndicated on-air personality Arroe Collins.

If I am only sure of one thing in life,
It's: Never give up on your dreams.

The one ritual I always perform prior to going on stage is:
Giving all my band members fist pumps!

The exact moment I knew I wanted to pursue a career in music was:
At my first BOSTON concert.

The one thing most fans don't know about me is:
Although I seem to be very shy and quiet I'm actually pretty funny once you get to know me.

The best advice I could give beginning guitarists:
Have fun and rock out!

Bands I'm listening to right now:
I don't listen to CD's much anymore but what I am currently listening to on my iPod is Thrice.

My 3 all-time favorite albums:
BOSTON (self titled album) Hysteria and Anthology (Live album by Thrice.)

Best gig:
Performing at Nemours/Alfred I. DuPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, DE. Seeing the joy on the faces of the young patients, their doctors, parents and caretakers was wonderful.

Favorite junk food:

My biggest pet peeve:
It’s vexing to me that so many musicians and artists do not receive enough money from the recordings of their music that they can support themselves. We love what we do so much but so many of us still have to work at a second job.

The word or catch phrase I say too much is:

The hardest part of my job:
Is having to power it down and "call it a night."

What I like to do in my "off" time:
Hangout, spend time with family and go to the movies.

The first thing I do when I come home from touring is:
Take a nice long nap in my cozy bed.

Previous or first day job:
My first day job was bussing table at a pizzeria.

Right after this interview I'm going to:
Head down to the grocery store and fill my truck up with gas.

I couldn't imagine being on the road without:
My iPad.

If I wasn't doing the musician thing, I could really see myself working as:
Landscape photographer as I really love being outdoors and traveling.

Favorite movie:
Star Wars.

My mission in life:
Is to be the best person I can be. My hopes are to be a husband and father someday, and pass down to my children the gift of music my Dad passed down to me.

My guilty pleasure band or artist:
Justin Timberlake.

My next goal is:
To get DECARLO on a tour overseas.

The greatest contribution guitars/music have brought into my life is:
Getting to meet wonderful and talented people.

The one musician I would love to work with that I have not yet had the chance would be:
Tom Scholz.

If I could have three wishes, they would be:
To live a long healthy life, I wish for my band DECARLO to be successful and play bigger venues and to perform at Wembley Stadium.

When it's all said and done, I want the world to remember me for:
If I'm ever so lucky to have that notoriety, I'd like to be remembered for living my life in a way that inspired others both musically and personally.
